Shortly after her first birthday, our daughter began exhibiting some worrisome symptoms and was eventually diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a disease that attacks the esophagus and is often aggravated by food allergies and intolerances.
We were immediately plunged into a new world of managing severe symptoms on a daily basis, elimination diets, allergy testing, medical procedures and lots and lots of research. The more we learned about this disease, the more discouraged we became. When we searched online for effective treatments or instances of healing, what we found left little room for encouragement.
Yet we were determined to find a way to live with hope and love our little girl well.
Hope is what carried us through the most difficult days, and we believe that hope brought the amazing strength and life we see in our daughter today. True hope truly does change lives.
Although ours is a mild challenge compared to what so many families face, our experience has birthed a growing sense of compassion for others in similar circumstances. How could it be that practical resources and stories filled with hope seem so hard to find? We know that there are other families who live with hope and are ready share their journey. We simply need to enable those stories to be told.
Our dream of a world where HOPE is accessible, personal and tangible to any family facing medical adversity was taking shape. As you explore our site, you may want to check out other resources on our blog or read more detail about our experience with Eosinophilic Esophagitis.
