A PRAYER FOR DISCERNMENT
Father God, thank you for wisdom and for your promises to lead and guide us. We confess that we need your presence, discernment, and grace today.
You know the burden of decision making that falls on parents’ shoulders as their children face a diagnosis. There are questions of treatment, tests, and timing. There are options to weigh. There are financial pressures and emotional strains.
You are our father, and you know better than anyone the love that we as parents have for our children and our desire to care for them well. You also know the pressure that parents put on themselves to make the best decision.
We ask for you to lighten this burden for the families in our community today. Help us to trust your leading. We know that for every decision, for every option, and for every stress, that you love to give us strength, understanding, and peace.
We ask for you to meet us today with discernment.
For the decisions parents need to make, provide clarity and peace.
When they feel like the path is unclear, give them the right questions to ask.
When moments of uncertainty set in, lead them with your strong hand to truth.
Just as the parents in our community need discernment, we also pray for the friends, family, and medical professionals supporting them.
As friends and family come alongside weary parents and children, we pray for discernment and grace for them to know how to best encourage and support.
As parents and children ask tough questions of the medical professionals serving them, please grant patience, wisdom, and clarity in their answers.
We know that your are a present, loving, and leading Father. May your presence comfort and encourage. May your peace calm the minds of these families and give them rest today. Lead us in truth and wisdom, we pray! Amen.
