A Prayer for Hope

Each of us faces dark days where we need hope. As we’ve read God’s word considering the word hope, it’s often paired with the analogy of light dawning. In our prayer for hope, we’re asking the Lord to let his light and hope shine on you and cut through the darkness. You are not alone, and we are praying with you.

A PRAYER FOR HOPE

Lord, we come before You and thank You that we can stand on Your truth. With You there is no darkness. You are unchanging, eternal, and pure. Your perfect nature and faithful love are what we stand on today.

As we begin our day, let what it says in Your word be true for us, Morning by morning new mercies I see. Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love. As the sun rises on our day, may Your light dawn on our hearts. Reveal Your character and goodness to us as we put our hope in You.

Wash us in the water of Your word. Take away fear, doubt, and disappointment, and in its place give us peace, faith, and hope. Remind us of the days when we have seen Your goodness and the promises that You have fulfilled. Lift our eyes above our circumstances and fix our gaze on You, the coming One.

Show us purpose in our days here on earth and hope for our future days in heaven. Equip us for every good work and help us to grasp the height and depth of Your great love for us. Do in us and through us immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.

Fill us with Your truth, Your light, Your life, and Your hope.
