A Prayer for Kindness

Mountain Sunset with Text | Prayer for Kindness | helloHOPE Community Prayers Wide

Recently, I was reading in my Bible and was struck by how little I think of the kindness of God. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day or see brokenness all around, but there are these little seeds of kindness all around. As I began to realize how God’s kindness shows up in so many ways it brought an immense amount of peace and gratitude. Here is a prayer for kindness that we have prayed over you.

A PRAYER FOR KINDNESS

Lord, even when the world around us is swirling and broken, thank you for being true, kind, and a foundation to lean on. Medical challenges can be overwhelming, and the difficult days are hard to handle. At the same time we know that your love is unlike any other. So today, we boldly and humbly approach you asking for your kindness to meet us.

For the parents whose children are facing a diagnosis, we ask for your kindness to comfort and calm their hearts. In your provision, would you send them encouragement from friends, help from medical staff, and rest for their minds and bodies.

For the children who are facing a diagnosis, we ask for them to experience kindness in new ways. Whether it’s a reprieve from pain, a kind nurse, or a visitor to make them smile, you know what each child needs, and we ask for your Spirit to be present with them now.

For the siblings who aren’t facing a diagnosis, we ask that you would be their comfort and friend. As you meet them with your presence, please give them peace and confidence in your plan and help them to see seeds of hope and your kindness all around them.

For the medical staff that supports these families, we ask for your kindness to encourage them, give them the wisdom they need to serve their patients, and give them needed rest. With the many difficult days and circumstances that they face, please help them to remember your promises each day.

We know that your Spirit is with those who trust in you. For any families who are facing overwhelming worry or don’t know where to turn for hope, we pray for you to send your Spirit. In your kindness, would you open their hearts to see and understand how you are working around them and to experience the peace and kindness that you give so freely?

Thank you that you know us so well and for the fact that Jesus knows our brokenness and is praying with us and for us now.

In the strong and kind name of Jesus we pray, amen.
